It's not just Indians who love visiting Goa for beach breaks! The Russians, British and the Finnish too love this land of sun, sea and sand - so much so that the rising numbers of visitors from Russia and Finland have induced airlines to schedule regular flights to Goa.

Rossia - Russian Airlines has scheduled a charter flight from Moscow to Goa to ferry beach-loving Russians to the beaches of Goa for a beach holiday. The first charter flight with as many as 519 guests arrived at Goa International Airport, Dabolim on October 1, marking the beginning of the charter flights.

The tourism department welcomed the first arrivals with roses and a band, getting them started on a grand beach holiday mode, right away!

Finnish Airlines went a step ahead and converted its charter flights into a regular scheduled flight to Goa after a surge in Finnish guests holidaying in Goa. The new service will be a bi-weekly direct flight from Helsinki to Goa; services began with effect from November, with the first flight arriving at Goa on November 2.

Announcing the arrival of the first flight, Desmond Chacko, General Manager for India Operations at Finnish Airlines said that with 6,000 Finnish citizens visiting Goa and given the demand seen in charter operations, Finnair decided to operate scheduled flights to the state. The services will continue until the close of the peak tourism season at Goa - I.e., March 2018 and a decision will be taken on continuing the service year long.

With British and Americans adding to the mix of foreign tourists partying in the beach state, Goa is all set to have a good tourist season this year, with few free rooms available in hotels and resorts.
